Four Energy Companies Successfully Bid on Land for Wind and RE Projects in Canada
Newfoundland and Labrador announced the results of the stage two review of its invitation for bids for land associated with proposed wind and clean fuels projects for Newfoundland and Labrador.

Gerry Mayo, Energy NL Chair stated, “Today is an exciting and important day for our energy sector, specifically the renewable energy sector, and the thousands of people involved in the supply and service sector. Four Energy NL member companies will receive Wind Application Recommendation Letters from the Provincial Government as they move forward to apply for Crown land for their projects. This is a significant step forward, both for the four companies and for our sector and places us on a path to being leaders in the production of renewable energy.”
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador received 24 bids from 19 companies in the initial call for bids, with nine bids from nine companies proceeding into stage two. The results of stage two were announced with ABO Wind, EverWind Fuels, Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Company (EVREC), and World Energy GH2 being the recipients of Wind Application Recommendation Letters. Companies may now register for a Crown land application and projects will require an environmental assessment before they can proceed.

I was encouraged by the amount of interest in wind and clean fuels development for Newfoundland and Labrador and I believe a path remains for other proponents to be a part of this sector in the future. I also commend Premier Furey, Minister Parsons, and the dedicated individuals working on this process within the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador for recognizing the opportunity before us and acting diligently to be first movers in the renewable energy space. Today is a great day, yet it really is only the beginning.”
