Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has unveiled a progress report detailing the achievements of key state power entities viz. MahaVitaran, MahaGenco, MahaTransco, and MahaUrja, during the first 100 days of the government.

The report, 'Hundred Days for Twenty-Five Years', authored by Vishwas Pathak, Independent Director of MahaVitaran, highlights the milestones achieved under a strategic plan aimed at improving efficiency, reducing power costs, and accelerating the adoption of renewable energy.

As part of Maharashtra’s long-term strategy to meet its growing energy demands over the next 25 years, the government has launched several key initiatives. MahaVitaran has submitted a petition to the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) proposing a reduction in electricity tariffs. Meanwhile, the Solar Agriculture Pump Scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme have surpassed their targets, successfully installing solar-powered agricultural pumps and rooftop solar systems. To enhance transparency, the Energy Department has introduced periodic performance report cards to track the progress of its initiatives.

The report was released during a high-level meeting of the Board of Directors of MSEB Holding Company, attended by Minister of State for Energy Meghna Bordikar, the Additional Chief Secretary (Power), the Industries Secretary, and senior officials from state power corporations. According to media reports, Fadnavis reviewed transmission project delays across Maharashtra and issued strict directives for their swift completion. He placed particular emphasis on resolving long-standing delays in Palghar and integrating projects into the Gatishakti platform through Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) to streamline execution.

One of the government’s key priorities is ensuring an uninterrupted power supply to the rapidly expanding Navi Mumbai Data Center Hub. Fadnavis instructed officials to expedite the development of transmission infrastructure for this critical digital zone, stressing that no political or local obstacles should delay progress. He also directed authorities to provide police protection where necessary to prevent disruptions in transmission projects.

With Maharashtra’s energy demand on the rise, the government is accelerating efforts to expand power transmission and renewable energy projects. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to inter-agency coordination, reinforcing Maharashtra’s focus on energy security and sustainability.
