With a yearly production capacity of more than 6 million units of Enphase IQ Microinverters, Nasdaq-listed Enphase Energy in partnership with high precision manufacturing specialist Salcomp has become India’s largest solar microinverter manufacturer.
Enphase is a global energy management technology company and the world’s leading supplier of microinverter-based solar-plus-storage systems.
The Enphase-Salcomp unit, located at Salcomp SEZ in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, has been currently exporting microinverters, thus making the unit one of the largest solar equipment exporters in India by the number of units.
Commenting about the company’s India focus, Sunil Thamaran, VP and MD at Enphase Energy India, said, “Enphase sees incredible growth potential in India and has partnered with Salcomp to provide an impetus both domestically and export-wise for India. We have exported millions of microinverters to North America, Europe, and Asia from this plant. Besides that, about 60 percent of Enphase Energy’s global workforce is in India. We play a crucial role in designing and developing hardware and software components, which creates the market-leading solar-plus-storage-based energy management system.”
The Enphase IQ microinverters are some of the most advanced solar inverters in the market that enhance solar energy output while making the entire solar energy system more reliable, efficient, and safer.
Every microinverter is powered by semiconductor integration, predictive control, and a technically configurable architecture. And each microinverter undergoes rigorous functional and reliability testing. The one-of-a-kind, high-tech automation manufacturing unit is certified with ISO 14001, ISO 27001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001. The Enphase IQ Microinverter comes with up to 25 year warranty.
Since the beginning of the production in 2020, a substantial amount of microinverters and other components for Enphase Global were manufactured by Salcomp in India. The company has exported several millions of microinverters from India, mainly to North America, Europe, and Asia pacific.
“Green energy has become the center of attention globally for a sustainable future. Enphase plays a significant role in this space, and Salcomp is privileged to be their manufacturing partner. India has taken a major step towards promoting the manufacturing of green energy products in the recent budget announcement. This shall further strengthen the electronics manufacturing ecosystem to grow rapidly and support not only India, but rest of the world. Salcomp is committed to being a key player in the solar energy and other green energy initiatives and support the “Make in India” initiatives by Govt of India,” commented Sasikumar Gendham, MD of Salcomp India.
Outlining the growing scope of Enphase Energy’s products in India, Manoj Gopalan Nair, Senior Director, Sales, at Enphase Energy India, said, “Enphase Energy India has a current market share of 4 percent in the Indian residential rooftop solar market. We are looking to gain a 10 percent market share in the next two years. We strongly believe that the Enphase IQ Microinverter’s burst mode technology, rapid shutdown, high reliability and safety, and superior performance will drive faster market adoption.”
