EGAT and Network Partners Move Further with 5 Projects for Sustainable Low Carbon Society in Thailand

This involves managing air quality, increasing green areas in the country, and rising carbon dioxide absorption by associating with network partners to run multiple projects align EGAT’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 and Thailand’s goal.

EGAT and network partners declared their partnership to execute the royal initiatives of His Majesty the King for taking care of the society, community, and environment, support energy efficiency, to assist drive Thailand toward a sustainable low carbon society.

Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) inked four memorandum of understanding (MoUs) between EGAT and network partners, consisting Utokapat Foundation under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King and Hydro – Informatics Institute (Public Organization), Office of the Royal Development Projects Board (ORDPB), Natural Farming Foundation, and eight educational institutions.

Boonyanit Wongrukmit, EGAT Governor said, EGAT has been accountable for the power system security of the country and the transition to clean energy, coupled with promoting energy efficiency and taking care of the society, community, and environment.

This involves managing air quality, increasing green areas in the country, and rising carbon dioxide absorption by associating with network partners to run multiple projects align EGAT’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 and Thailand’s goal.

Pawat Navamaratna, Secretary-General of ORDPB stated that EGAT and ORDPB have a long-lasting collaboration. In 2023, they will encourage together energy efficiency by first assisting in the establishment of solar electricity systems and battery energy storage systems at four border patrol police schools in the northern and western regions to improve and enhance energy security in education.

Furthermore, they will amalgamate reforestation in the upstream areas of reservoirs under royally-initiated projects of His Majesty the King to restore the watershed forest by beginning with Chi River Reservoir and Lam Sapung Reservoir in Chaiyaphum Province, totaling an area of 700 rai under EGAT’s Participatory Reforestation Project.
