The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) has issued a Request for Submission of Expression of Interest (REOI), calling upon companies or consortiums with the requisite expertise and capacity to participate in the design, construction, and operation of an 8.2 MWp Photovoltaic (PV) Project alongside a 2 MWac / 4 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
The proposed project aims to support the microgrid infrastructure in Siwa by augmenting the existing PV system with a capacity of 8.2 MWp PV plus 2 MWac/4 MWh BESS. This initiative seeks to efficiently and economically provide electricity to remote areas. Although the current capacity of the existing PV system is 5.8 MWp, the project site spans approximately 40 Acres, with 16 Acres available for the solar developer to construct and complement the existing infrastructure.
Major evaluation criteria for prospective bidders include CAPEX, OPEX, and Implementation Timeline, among others, with the contract type specified as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance (O&M).
The scope of work entails various tasks such as design, engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance of a tailored PV system, procurement of necessary equipment, integration of renewable energy sources into the microgrid, installation of energy storage solutions, commissioning, testing, and optimization of the PV system, and training of local technicians for maintenance and operation.
Prospective bidders are invited to participate in a competitive procurement process, with the REOI marking the initial step. The indicative procurement timetable outlines key dates, including the submission closing date on June 3, 2024, and the subsequent stages leading to the Award Date and Contract Execution on December 1, 2024.
