In order to promote RE at grassroot levels in Gujarat, Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (DGVCL), a State government-owned power distribution company. has awarded contracts for 64 solar projects totalling 160 MW under Component C of the PM KUSUM scheme, which is focused on feeder-level solarisation in the State.

The initiative aims to solarise 514 agricultural feeders operating at 11 kV, benefiting approximately 161,727 grid-connected agricultural consumers. The projects will be implemented under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model, which will provide cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions for the agricultural sector.

Amongst the key companies securing the contracts is KPI Green Energy, which has been awarded 51 MW across 15 locations, with tariffs ranging from INR 2.28 per kWh to INR 3 per kWh. Shree Ganesh Corporation has been allocated 45.5 MW across 10 locations at a uniform tariff of INR 3 per kWh. Additionally, Sartha Infrastructure has secured 15.5 MW of capacity, with tariffs ranging between INR 2.85 per kWh and INR 2.98 per kWh. Harisinh Chauhan has been allocated 15 MW, with similar tariff ranges.

Green Energy Alliance has won 3 MW at a tariff of INR 2.25 per kWh. Other developers, including Arvindbhai Manjibhai Mangukiya, Delta Suninfra Energies, and Trust Infra Sales & Services, each secured 2.5 MW projects with tariffs ranging from INR 2.98 per kWh to INR 3 per kWh.

Furthermore, other companies collectively secured the remaining 18.5 MW of capacity, with tariffs ranging from INR 2.97 per kWh to INR 3 per kWh. Green Environ Construction and Rameshbhai Manjibhai Mangukiya were each awarded 2 MW, with tariffs starting at INR 2.98 per kWh.

Component C of the PM KUSUM scheme is specifically designed to solarise existing grid-connected agricultural pumps. This will enable farmers to double their pump capacity by installing solar systems, allowing them to access affordable and clean energy while reducing their reliance on conventional grid power. This initiative supports the widespread adoption of renewable energy at the grassroots level, offering sustainable power solutions for rural and agricultural areas.

These projects highlight Gujarat's steadfast commitment to advancing renewable energy technologies. Gujarat is paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient agricultural ecosystem while continuing to lead in the national effort to promote solar energy and green technologies.
