Complaint Filed against Fake Websites Offering Solar Generators on Rent in Tata Power’s Name

Utility major Tata Power has issued an advisory for its customers’ awareness against the fraudulent websites and Whatsapp numbers offering fake solar generators on rent on the company’s name.

The company in a statement said that, “fraudulent domains ‘tatapower888.in’ & ‘tt88888.in’ along with a  whatsapp number ‘96900830963’ have been misrepresenting the company by offering fake solar generators/products on rent.”

The advisory has been issued by the company after a recent incident wherein this fake domain has been reaching out to customers, asking them to rent solar generators by investing a minimum amount of Rs 500 and offering cash prize for the investment.

The company said that, this fake domain has been engaging with customers without any authorisation from Tata Power and Tata Power Solar. It has also been running a referral system offering commission to customers who refer the domain.

By taking an action against such acts, Tata Power has lodged an official complaint against it and clarified to its customers that “anyone engaging with the domain IDs & whatsapp number should do at their own risk.”

The company further said that it has always strived to add value to its customers and is keeping a tab on such fraudulent practices. “Both Tata Power and Tata Power Solar don’t engage in such activities and wish to reinforce the fact that any activities conducted by the above mentioned domain IDs or the whatsapp number doesn’t represent Tata Power,” it mentioned.

Besides, the company also urged users to buy or rent Tata Power’s solar products only through their designated and authorised distribution channel partners and inform them at toll free number 1800 419 8777 immedietly in case they come across such fake platforms.

Thus, only information coming from authorised official domains such as ‘www.tatapower.com’ & ‘www.tatapowersolar.com’ should be treated as authentic, it added.
