CIP and Ignitis Renewables Secure Estonia's Offshore Wind Tender
After winning the Liivi 2 site in Estonia's first offshore wind tender in December 2023, CIP and Ignitis Renewables see the adjacent Liivi 1 site as a natural extension of the seabed area.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), the world's largest fund manager in greenfield renewable energy investments, and Ignitis Renewables, an international green energy company, have acquired both the Liivi 1 and Liivi 2 sea areas in Estonia's offshore wind sector.
After winning the Liivi 2 site in Estonia's first offshore wind tender in December 2023, CIP and Ignitis Renewables see the adjacent Liivi 1 site as a natural extension of the seabed area. This strategic positioning allows for greater synergy and optimization, presenting the opportunity to develop both sites as a single, cohesive offshore wind project.
The maritime area of these combined sites, located in the Gulf of Riga, northwest of Ruhnu Island, near Estonia's Baltic Sea coast, covers approximately 193 square kilometers. The collaborative project, slated for post-2030 operation, is contingent upon obtaining necessary permits, securing suppliers, and finalizing financing arrangements.
CIP and Ignitis Renewables have formalized their commitment to this venture through an exclusive collaboration agreement for offshore wind opportunities in Estonia and Latvia. This partnership capitalizes on CIP's extensive global offshore wind expertise and Ignitis Renewables' prominent market position in the Baltic region.
With the secured Liivi 1 and Liivi 2 sea areas, CIP and Ignitis Renewables strategically position themselves to maximize the scale and potential of these sites. This move represents a pivotal investment in Estonia's transformation into a sustainable, long-term green energy hub in Europe.
