China is developing solar and hydro projects along the new bases it has constructed near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the eastern Ladakh sector.

These solar and hydro power projects have been introduced to fulfill the power requirements of the new bases which are established for maintaining troops that are deployed in the area.

As per government officials, the Chinese perceived the requirement for these plants as they were facing difficulties with maintaining troops in huge numbers at forward bases under extreme weather conditions.

Previously, Chinese troops deployed in the regions have also faced issues due to the presence of extreme weather conditions in the region.

In contrast, Indian soldiers, with great experience of operating in the extreme winters at high altitudes of the Siachen glacier, have better abilities to withstand extreme weather conditions.

As per the reports, China deployed over 50,000 soldiers along the borders with India when it attempted to change the existing conditions along the border in the eastern Ladakh sector of the LAC.
