Changes in Moventas' management

Moventas has today appointed a new management team member, Brian Scorer, as Senior Vice President in charge of Moventas’ Service business area. Extending the management team also enables another significant appointment, as current Service SVP Olli Välimäki takes on a business development role in the APAC area.

Brian Scorer, 51, has been appointed Senior Vice President, Service and member of the Moventas management team. Scorer joins Moventas from the leading pump technology company ClydeUnion Pumps, a part of the SPX Corporation, where he most recently acted as Vice President of Commercial Operations, which
included overseeing the company’s Aftermarket division.

Scorer has an engineering degree and extensive work experience as an engineer, as well as a comprehensive industrial service background. Before his long career in ClydeUnion Pumps, he worked in various positions for the industrial conglomerate Ingersoll Rand with Ingersoll Dresser Pumps and then Flowserve.

 This is an exciting time in the development of Moventas and I am delighted to be joining the management team. I look forward to helping in the expansion of Service as well as contributing to the overall growth and success of the business.

By inviting a new management team member, Moventas has an opportunity to expand its management team geographically into growing market areas. While Brian Scorer takes responsibility of Moventas’ Service business area, Senior Vice President and management team member Olli Välimäki takes the role of Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, developing Moventas’ gearbox and service businesses in the APAC area.

This appointment is part of Moventas’ strategic plan to be closer to our customers by extending the global reach of all our businesses and developing our operations in growing areas east of India. We intend to gain a strong foothold in APAC, as we’ve done in Europe and Americas, says Välimäki.

Moventas currently has an industrial gear manufacturing site in Suzhou, China, a service workshop and sales office near Sydney, Australia and an industrial gears agent operating in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and China.

Both appointments will be effective as of 1 April, 2013. Brian Scorer joins Moventas on 18 February, 2013.
