Ceer, Saudi Arabia’s pioneering electric vehicle (EV) brand and a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (Foxconn), has entered into a strategic partnership with Rimac Technology, known for its high-performance electric powertrain systems.
The partnership will enable Ceer’s upcoming flagship EVs to feature Rimac’s fully integrated Electric Drive Systems (EDS), enhancing their performance and efficiency. The agreement was formalised at a signing ceremony in Croatia, recently, attended by Rimac Technology CEO Mate Rimac and Ceer CEO James DeLuca.
"We are delighted to be the first large-scale project in the GCC to partner with Rimac Technology, equipping Ceer’s flagship vehicles with cutting-edge electric drive systems," said Ceer CEO James DeLuca. "Rimac's global reputation for advanced powertrain systems aligns perfectly with our goals to work with industry leaders and deliver world-class, high-performance EVs that will redefine the automotive industry in Saudi Arabia."
This collaboration represents a significant expansion for Rimac Technology, which has historically focused on limited-volume, high-performance projects. Known for its involvement with high-performance vehicles like the Rimac Nevera, Pininfarina Battista, Aston Martin Valkyrie, and Koenigsegg Regera, Rimac Technology is now moving towards larger-scale initiatives. Earlier this year, Rimac announced a long-term partnership with the BMW Group to supply high-voltage battery systems, alongside multiple agreements with European OEMs for medium- to large-volume projects. This new venture with Ceer marks Rimac’s first partnership in the GCC and signifies its expanding ambitions in electric powertrain and battery system production.
Mate Rimac, Founder of the Rimac Group, emphasised the importance of this new collaboration. "Our partnership with Ceer solidifies Rimac Technology’s position in global electrification. This year alone, we’ve formed key partnerships, including with BMW and Ceer, which will enable us to produce tens of thousands of electric drive and battery systems for leading OEMs worldwide. We’re making strategic investments in our production facilities, such as the Rimac Campus in Croatia, to meet this growing demand."
The partnership is expected to support Ceer’s vision of creating high-performance EVs specifically designed for the Saudi Arabian market and signals a step forward in Saudi Arabia’s electrification and automotive manufacturing goals. Additional details about the scope and scale of the collaboration are expected to be released in the coming months, highlighting the significance of this alliance in the broader context of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals.
As Rimac Technology and Ceer prepare to ramp up production, this collaboration is poised to set new standards for the region’s automotive industry, integrating advanced electric technologies and fostering growth within the Saudi economy.
