In a significant development for renewable energy in Rajasthan, the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Project, expected to be commissioned by June 2024, will supply 600 MW to Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL) and 500 MW to Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) at a competitive tariff of INR 2.57 per unit.
The allocation of solar power from this project will be executed through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), which are anticipated to be signed soon.
The PPAs for this ambitious project will be facilitated by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholy owned subsidiary of SJVN, which is spearheading the development of the Bikaner Solar Project. President Droupadi Murmu laid the foundation stone for the project on January 3, 2023.
This initiative marks a significant step toward reducing carbon emissions, with the project projected to generate 2,455 million units in its inaugural year and a cumulative total of about 56,838 million units over 25 years. The project will effectively lower carbon emissions by an estimated 27,85,077 tonnes.
Additionally, SJVN has furthered its commitment to renewable energy in the state by partnering with the Rajasthan government to develop 10 GW of renewable energy projects and parks.
