Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has announced plans to install solar power generation systems on rooftops within its plant premises and township in Bhilai.

BSP has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) for the execution of the solar power generation project within the unit's premises.

The proposed plan aims to generate approximately 2 MW of electricity, leveraging the solar resources available in the region. Additionally, BSP is actively pursuing another project involving the installation of rooftop solar energy systems on residences and offices within the township. This initiative holds the potential to generate around 3 MW of electricity.

Upon completion, these two projects are expected to collectively reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 2,900 tonnes annually, marking a significant contribution to environmental conservation efforts in the region.
