BGR Tech Ltd., a subsidiary of Prenora in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Elchemtech Co. Ltd. to launch advanced Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) water electrolyser technology in India.

This collaboration aligns with India's push for sustainable energy and explores opportunities for local manufacturing of PEM stacks under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The partnership focuses on integrating Elchemtech’s high-efficiency H2Lyser PEM Water Electrolyser (PEMWE) into BGR Tech’s Balance of Plant (BoP) solutions for green hydrogen projects. “With a compact design and a hydrogen production capacity of 240 Nm³/hour (1.25 MW per stack), the H2Lyser system is well-suited for India’s space-constrained environments,” claimed the company.

As part of the agreement, both companies will evaluate options for manufacturing or assembling PEM stacks locally, fostering domestic technological growth and job creation. BGR Tech will handle the integration of key components, including ultrapure water treatment units, gas separation units, hydrogen and oxygen purification units, and low-pressure storage solutions, all configured into modular skids for seamless deployment.

This collaboration positions BGR Tech and Elchemtech at the forefront of India’s green hydrogen revolution, addressing key challenges such as cost reduction and supply chain efficiency while accelerating the country’s transition to clean energy.
