BEE Presents Draft SoP for Single Window Clearance System
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), in consultation with Central Electricity Authority (CEA), has prepared a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for a streamlined single window clearance system to expediate grant of electricity connections by DISCOMS to EV Charge Point Operators with minimum documentation.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), in consultation with Central Electricity Authority (CEA), has prepared a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for a streamlined single window clearance system to expediate grant of electricity connections by DISCOMS to EV Charge Point Operators with minimum documentation.
The single window clearance system is designed to simplify and accelerate the approval process for setting up EV charging stations. It integrates various clearances required from different government agencies into a single platform, thereby reducing the time and effort involved in obtaining necessary permissions. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the convenience for businesses and entrepreneurs looking to invest in EV charging infrastructure.
According to the BEE, the new system will ensure that all approvals are granted within a stipulated timeframe, which is a substantial improvement over the existing process that often involves delays and bureaucratic hurdles.
The system will cover various aspects including land acquisition, environmental clearances, and utility connections, among others. This integrated approach is anticipated to provide a major boost to the EV ecosystem by facilitating faster and more efficient establishment of charging stations.
The implementation of this system is part of the broader National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020, which aims to achieve national fuel security by promoting hybrid and electric vehicles in the country. The NEMMP envisions significant reductions in fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, with a target of deploying 6-7 million electric and hybrid vehicles by 2020.
