In a significant development for renewable energy in Victoria, Australia, planning regulators have approved amendments to OSMI Australia's permit for the Delburn wind project. This paves the way for construction to commence in the coming year.
The Delburn Wind Farm, with a planned capacity of up to 200 MW, secured approval for three wind energy facility planning permit amendments. OSMI Australia, the developer behind the project, described these changes as "minor," aiming to enhance understanding, interpretation, and enforceability of permit conditions.
The project faced legal challenges following its initial planning approval last year, with concerns raised about its location in a bushfire-prone area and its proximity to residential dwellings. However, the Supreme Court dismissed these concerns in March, clearing the path for further progress.
Situated in Victoria's Latrobe Valley, the Delburn Wind Farm is poised to feature 33 turbines, collectively generating between 180 MW and 200 MW of clean energy. The estimated cost of the project falls between AUD 320 million and AUD 360 million.
The Delburn Wind Farm is set to play a crucial role in contributing to Victoria's renewable energy goals, marking a positive step forward for the state's sustainable energy landscape.
