As Assam gears up for the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit, the state is actively seeking investments in the green energy sector, aiming to position itself as a key player in India’s renewable energy transition.

Highlighting Assam’s growing potential in clean energy, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasised the state's expanding opportunities in floating solar, bio-CNG, green hydrogen, and ATJ fuel. He reaffirmed Assam’s commitment to sustainability, backed by investor-friendly policies, and reiterated the state’s target of achieving 3,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

As part of a broader push to attract top industrial players, CM Sarma visited Mumbai on February 8 to personally engage with leading business leaders and invite them to the summit.

During his visit, he met JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal to explore potential partnerships, particularly in infrastructure and energy.  “Had an excellent meeting with Sajjan Jindal, the Chairman of JSW Group in Mumbai today. We spoke on partnering together, particularly in infrastructure and energy sectors,” shared the CM.

He also shared, “Recently, we approved the Assam Startup and Innovation Policy. Through this policy, we'll provide various fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to encourage entrepreneurs as our government aims to support 5,000 startups and create 1 Lakh job opportunities in the next 5 years.”

In another high-level discussion, Sarma met B.K. Goenka, Chairman of Welspun World, to explore collaboration in textiles, energy, water treatment, and infrastructure. Inviting Goenka to Advantage Assam 2.0, he assured that Assam is ready to provide a conducive business environment for Welspun to expand its footprint in the region.

Additionally, Sarma met Ravi Ruia, Vice Chairman of Essar Group, to discuss prospective investments in electric truck manufacturing and renewable energy projects in Assam. Ruia was also invited to participate in the upcoming summit.

The Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit, scheduled for February 25-26, 2025 in Guwahati, aims to showcase Assam’s investment potential across multiple sectors. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the summit as the chief guest on February 25, further underscoring its national significance.

With its ambitious green energy goals and proactive investor outreach, Assam is positioning itself as a hub for sustainable industrial growth and economic development.
