Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone in the inaugural ceremony of northeast India's first-ever compressed biogas plant project at Domora Pathar in Sonapur under Kamrup (Metropolitan) district in Assam.
Being established by entrepreneurs Pankaj Gogoi and Rakesh Doley with the aid of Redlemon Technologies Private Limited, the plant, planned to be functional from November 2023, will have a generation capacity of five tonne-per-day of compressed biogas that would be created from raw materials such as cattle-dung, municipal solid wastes, etc.
Discussing at the event, Chief Minister Sarma displayed confidence that the compressed biogas plant at Sonapur would pave a path in helping the Government of Assam in its goal of an eventual transition to cleaner and greener energy.
He expressed hope that the organic fertilizers that would be created as a by-product of biogas in such compressed biogas plants would provide a safer alternative to chemical fertilizers currently in use across the state.
He further said entrepreneurs wishing to initiate into new areas such as biofuel and biogas production, while ascertaining of all aid from the government to anyone who would like to propel into biofuel/biogas production.
Redlemon Technologies Private Limited also mentioned about the procreation of opportunities after the initiation of the venture of Compressed Biogas plant in Northeast India.
CBG utilizes for efficient municipal solid waste management and to handle the issue of polluted urban air because of farm-stubble burning and carbon emissions. Consumption of CBG (Compressed Bio Gas) is implied to cut down the dependence on imports.
