Amazon in Discussion with Rivian to Eliminate Van Exclusivity Clause

Amazon promised USD 500 million in September to Rivian and pursued that rise in the same month with a promise to purchase 100,000 electric delivery vans.

American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian Automotive is apparently looking to end its exclusivity agreement with online retail giant Amazon so as to be able to sell its delivery vans to other companies.

Amidst the reasons postulated for the dialogue is an aspiration on Rivian’s part to sell its electric delivery vehicle to others after Amazon’s order for 2023 came in at the low end of expectations.

In addition, the WSJ source added that this was not the first time that Amazon has hovered around the low end of the agreed range for its firm orders.

Rivian has been adequate to construct the accreditation of Amazon’s outlay to level up its plant in Michigan to fulfill production for Amazon.

Amazon gave us a first preview of the Rivian-made Amazon delivery vans, and last year officially set the vans into service.

All of this implied that Rivian aspires to make the electric delivery van on its own production line, though did so under the impact of constructing various other than Amazon has presently delivered.
