ALMM Update: Two New Entrants Join Solar Module Manufacturer List

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has added two new entrants to the Approved List of Module Manufacturers (ALMM)—Easy Photovoltaic Pvt. Ltd. (81 MW) from Uttar Pradesh and Telangana-based Akshaya Solar Power (India) Pvt. Ltd. (33 MW).

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has updated the Approved List of Module Manufacturers (ALMM), reducing the number of listed solar module manufacturers to 97 from 100 last month.

The reduction in the ALMM list is due to the expiration of registration for few companies, including Plaza Power & Infrastructure Co. (31 MW), Abhishek Solar Industries Pvt. Ltd. (25 MW), and  Urjastrot Enterprise (43 MW).

Meanwhile, two new firms have joined the list. Easy Photovoltaic Pvt. Ltd., a Uttar Pradesh-based company, has been added with a listed capacity of 81 MW, along with Telangana-based Akshaya Solar Power (India) Pvt. Ltd., which holds a capacity of 33 MW. This brings the total enlisted solar module manufacturing capacity to around 67 GW.

Several companies have also received provisional enlistment for their solar PV modules. Australian Premium Solar (India) Pvt. Ltd., currently listed with a capacity of 287 MW per year, has applied to increase its capacity to 400 MW per year. Bluebird Solar Pvt. Ltd. in Uttar Pradesh, with a current capacity of 106 MW per year, has applied for 1000 MW per year. Jaipur-based ReNew Photovoltaics Pvt. Ltd. and Tamil Nadu-based FS India Solar Ventures Pvt. Ltd. have both been provisionally listed with capacities of 2,482 MW and 3,212 MW per year, respectively. These companies must comply with government guidelines and complete required processes for final ALMM enlistment.

Leading industry players such as TP Solar, Adani Solar, Waaree Energies, ReNew, and FS India Solar Ventures continue to dominate India’s solar module manufacturing landscape, driving growth in the renewable energy sector.

It may be mentioned that in a recent move, MNRE has proposed reducing the module efficiency threshold for crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar PV modules from 19 percent to 18 percent for off-grid applications, excluding agricultural pumps and rooftop solar. These modules will be listed under a newly proposed ALMM List-I (DRE) to support decentralised renewable energy solutions.
