India's solar module manufacturing capacity has crossed 65 GW, following the latest update to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).
The list has expanded with the addition of two new entrants, bringing the total number of approved manufacturers to 97. Indosolar Ltd., based in Uttar Pradesh, has been enlisted with a solar module capacity of 1,525 MW per year, while Telangana-based Visaka Industries Ltd. has been listed with a capacity of 16 MW per year.
In addition to the new entrants, several companies have received provisional ALMM enlistment for their additional solar PV modules and have applied to increase their capacities, such as Vikram Solar which already has an enlisted capacity of 1,151 MW per year, has applied for an additional 1,500 MW. SAEL Solar Mfg. Pvt. Ltd., with a current capacity of 117 MW per year, has applied to increase it to 300 MW. Emmvee Photovoltaic Power Pvt. Ltd. has retained its capacity of 676 MW per year and has new model additions. Similarly, HR Solar Solutions, with an enlisted capacity of 136 MW per year, has retained its capacity with new model additions.
Further, ADM Solar Power and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. has applied to expand its capacity from the currently enlisted 141 MW per year to 580 MW. Redren Energy Pvt. Ltd., which currently holds a capacity of 77 MW per year, has applied to increase it to 400 MW and received provisional approval.
While, Waaree Energies, one of the largest players, received provisional enlistment for its modules this month. The firm has enlisted capacity of 9,668 MW per year and has applied for the same capacity. Mundra Solar PV Ltd. has retained its current capacity of 1,942 MW per year and received provisional approval for its modules.
While these companies have been provisionally listed, they must comply with government guidelines and complete the necessary processes to secure final enlistment in the ALMM.
It may be mentioned that the MNRE has updated the ALMM order regarding List-II for solar PV cells, which will be effective from June 1, 2026. All solar modules in government schemes, net-metering, and open access projects must source cells from List-II, boosting domestic manufacturing and ensuring quality.
