The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has recently updated the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), increasing the total number of firms  from 93 to 95.

This update reflects the rapid growth of solar module manufacturing in India, with the total manufacturing capacity now exceeding 60GW.

Among the two newly added firms from Gujarat include FS Green Energies Pvt. Ltd. with the enlsited capacity of 572 MW and Hexatron Industries Ltd. with the enlisted capacity of 203 MW, These additions reflect the expanding landscape of solar manufacturing in the region.

Similarly, two more firms have recently made significant advancements. Redren Energy Pvt. Ltd. from Gujarat, currently with an enlisted capacity of 77 MW per year, has received provisional approval for additional solar PV module models and applied to expand its manufacturing capacity to 400 MW per year.

Furthermore, Swelect HHV Solar Photovoltaic Pvt. Ltd. from Tamil Nadu has been granted provisional enlistment for additional solar PV module models. The firm currently has an enlisted capacity of 627 MW per year and has applied for an increase to 700 MW.

While these companies have received provisional listings, they must comply with government guidelines and complete the necessary processes to secure their final enlistment in the ALMM. This step is crucial to ensure that the firms meet the stringent quality and performance standards established by the MNRE for solar module manufacturers operating in India.

It may be mentioned that the Indian government is set to introduce an Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar cells, similar to the existing framework for solar modules, to enhance the country's shift towards green energy. The second list (List II) under the ALMM for solar PV cells is targeted for implementation on April 1, 2026.

Initially, the ALMM order (List I) was established in 2019 to promote the manufacturing and utilisation of domestically produced solar panels, mandating that PV modules be sourced exclusively from models and manufacturers listed in ALMM List I.
