Adani Power Launches UAE Subsidiary, Focusses on Power and Infrastructure

Adani Power has launched a new subsidiary, Adani Power Middle East Ltd., in Abu Dhabi. The firm will focus on investments in power, infrastructure, and related sectors in the Middle East.

Adani Power Limited has announced the formation of a new wholly-owned subsidiary, Adani Power Middle East Ltd., based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The new entity, which has an authorised share capital of USD 27,000, will focus on investing in power, infrastructure, and related fields. This move is part of Adani Power’s strategy to broaden its global footprint and capitalise on growth opportunities in the Middle East.

With a total power generation capacity of 15,250 MW, Adani Power stands as India’s largest private thermal power producer. The company operates a broad portfolio of thermal power plants across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand, and also manages a 40 MW solar power project in Gujarat.

It may be noted that recently, Adani Power Ltd. and its subsidiary Mahan Energen Limited (MEL) signed a contract with Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) of INR 11,000 crore, where BHEL will develop three supercritical thermal power projects for the company.

As per the  contract, the firm will be responsible for the supply of critical equipment and the supervision of the erection and commissioning processes for three major power projects. The capacity of each project is estimated to be  2x800 MW and will be based on advanced Supercritical Technology.The project will be located at Kawai Phase-II and Kawai Phase-III in Rajasthan, and Mahan Phase-III in Madhya Pradesh. 

Moreover, Adani Power claims to be the world’s first entity to establish a coal-based supercritical thermal power project registered under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol, highlighting its commitment to advanced technology and sustainability in its operations.
