Adani Power Acquires 500 MW Adani Dahanu Thermal Power Station

Adani Power has acquired the 500 MW Adani Dahanu Thermal Power Station from North Maharashtra Power Ltd. for INR 815 crore. The company will further spend another INR 450 over five years towards the life extension capex of the plant.

Adani Power Ltd. has signed a Business Transfer Agreement (BTA) with North Maharashtra Power Ltd. (NMPL) to acquire the 2x250 MW (500 MW) Adani Dahanu Thermal Power Station (ADTPS) located at Dahanu, Palghar District in Maharashtra on a going concern basis from NMPL.

“Total investment for the acquisition of ADTPS is INR 815 crore, which is in the form of cash. In addition to this, the company will spend another approx. INR 450 Crore over the next five years towards life extension capex for the ADTPS power plant,” informed Adani Power in a regulatory filing.

ADTPS supplies power under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to the Mumbai power distribution circle of Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd. “This acquisition, which is consistent with the long-term ESG risk management strategy, will enable consolidation of thermal power generation capacities of Adani portfolio companies under one umbrella to maximise synergistic benefits and leverage the company’s experience and capabilities for improved operational efficiency and reliability,” stated the company.

Adani Power presently operates a power generation capacity of 17,050 MW. The company achieved an aggregate Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 65 percent for FY 2023-24 and 78 percent for the quarter ending June 30, 2024. With the acquisition of the ADTPS power plant, the combined operating power generation capacity of the company has increased to 17,550 MW.
