Mundra Solar Energy Ltd., the associate firm of the renewables arm of the Adani Group, has received approval for commissioning its solar photovoltaic plant in Mundra. The commercial operational date certificate has been given by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Apparently, the PV plant would have the capacity of 2 GW per annum.

The PV manufacturing plant is touted to play an important role in the tender that has been awarded to Adani Renewable Energy Holding Four Ltd. which is installing solar production capacity of 8 GW.

Adani Green Energy holds 26 percent stake in Mundra Solar Energy through subsidiary firm Adani Renewable Energy Holding Four Ltd. With this development, the shares of the company are expected to rise.

Meanwhile, Adani Green Energy expects to scale up its renewable energy capacity, targeting 45 GW by the end of this decade. The company has aligned itself with the ambitious mission of India to curtail carbon emissions by 1 billion tonnes and subsequently reduce carbon intensity by 45 percent by 2030.

Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Adani Group-owned Adani Green Energy Ltd. (AGEL) operates one of the largest solar photovoltaic plants in the world - Kamuthi Solar Power Project located in Tamil Nadu.
