Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Adani Saur Urja (LA) Limited, has been awarded a Letter of Award (LOA) from Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for the procurement of 1,250 MW energy storage capacity through pumped hydro storage projects.

"Adani Saur Urja (LA) Limited, a Wholly-owned Subsidiary of the Company, has received a LOA from UPPCL for procurement of 1,250 MW energy storage capacity from pumped hydro storage projects," Adani Green Energy informed in a regulatory filing.

The project was secured through an e-Reverse Auction by UPPCL, reinforcing Adani Green’s leadership in India’s renewable energy transition.

As per the terms of the LOA, the annual fixed cost payable for the project will be INR 76.53 lakh per MW per annum (excluding taxes) for a period of 40 years from the Commercial Operation Date (COD).

Pumped hydro storage is essential for grid stability and energy security, allowing for efficient storage and utilisation of renewable energy.

Recently, AGEL’s other wholly-owned step-down subsidiary, Adani Green Energy Twenty Six B Limited, operationalised 67 MW of solar power at Khavda, Gujarat. With the necessary clearances, the plant was officially operationalised and began power generation on February 25, 2025. With the commissioning of this plant, AGEL’s total operational renewable generation capacity has increased to 11,983.1 MW.
