In this new position, Hasvold will lead efforts to build relationships with utilities, corporate energy buyers, and wholesale trading firms while originating, structuring and negotiating off-take agreements to advance the company's development pipeline.
"Matthew brings a depth of understanding about buyers' actual needs and how markets truly function beyond theory," said Thomas Houle, co-founder and CEO of Accelergen Energy. "His years of hands-on experience will strengthen our ability to develop projects that meet real-world energy demands and create lasting partnerships built on trust and mutual benefit."
Accelergen’s analytics-led approach to development results in high-quality projects reaching commercialization sooner. Its focus on using data-driven analysis to select the most valuable grid nodes, and rigorous site evaluation, mirrors Hasvold’s own experience navigating the complexities of grid operations and resource procurement planning.
With over a decade in energy trading, procurement, and contract negotiations, Hasvold most recently served as an Originator at Black Hills Corporation, where he led negotiations for long-term power purchase agreements. His background includes real-time trading and dispatch roles across WECC and SPP markets. He is a NERC-certified system operator and has held leadership positions with local nonprofits.
Hasvold holds a J.D. from Creighton University and a dual bachelor's degree in Business Economics and Political Science from South Dakota State University.
“Accelergen has a clear differentiated strategy, a leadership team with a great track record, and a portfolio that’s well positioned to support both grid reliability and decarbonization,” said Hasvold. “It’s the kind of company where I can help shape practical energy solutions in markets that urgently need both capacity and energy.”
