In an exclusive conversation with Energetica India, Manjunath N. Reddy, Founder and Managing Director of DhaSh PV Technologies Ltd., provides his insights on the latest trends in the industry.

What is your outlook on the Indian solar industry? How is DhaSh going to support the growth of the industry?

India added about 24.5 GW of solar and ~3.4 GW of wind capacity in 2024. This represents a more than twofold rise in solar installations and a nearly 1.21 times increase in wind installations compared to 2023. Notably, the total solar capacity added in 2024 is the highest recorded capacity in any previous year.

We are witnessing vibrant growth in solar adoption and are very excited about the growth of the market in India. India is on a mission to be AatmaNirbhar. To contribute to this goal, the solar PV industry is working hard to develop and manufacture quality products to substitute imports and, at the same time, increase scalability to meet the local demand with competitive cost and unparalleled quality. Solar module manufacturing capacity is expected to reach 100 GW in a couple of months, and to support them to the maximum, we are also expanding our junction box manufacturing capacity from 40 GW to 63 GW by September 2025. This will make us the largest non-Chinese-owned PV junction box manufacturing company in the world.

How do you stay up to date with the latest trends and developments in your industry?
Innovation, quality, and reliability are at the heart of component design at DhaSh. We invest in significant research, development, and engineering to meet the rigorous demands of our customers’ increasingly complex technology. Our expertise in materials science research, advanced design methods, and global manufacturing capabilities allow us to create rugged and reliable solutions for the solar PV industry.

The continuous evolution seen in solar cell and module manufacturing technology (Mono PERC, TOPCon, HJT, Perovskite, IBC) demands ever-higher requirements from components like junction boxes. We are happy to inform you that DhaSh is ready with a more advanced junction box that can meet these requirements easily. Higher capacity modules and plant output also mean that the cost of failure due to poor components is higher. This drives us to invest continuously in research and intense quality testing to ensure our products meet or even exceed the demands of customers. Since the beginning of our journey, it has always been the ‘quality of the product’ that speaks in favour of the organisation and takes us forward to becoming the most preferred and reliable choice among clients.

DhaSh PV has achieved remarkable milestones. What’s the next big goal for the company?
The future holds immense opportunities waiting to be explored. At DhaSh, we are committed to not just maintaining our leadership but redefining it. Through backward integration, we are incorporating all remaining components into our production ecosystem, ushering in a new era of manufacturing excellence. This comprehensive process will be carried out at our state-of-the-art mega plant in Sira, Tumkuru district, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and quality.

One of our key milestones includes the development of Made in India diodes, a critical step towards self-reliance in the solar PV industry. We also aim to significantly increase our capacity, targeting the production of 1,000 km of solar cables and 63 GW of junction boxes annually. These ambitious goals reflect our dedication to supporting India’s renewable energy mission.

In addition to scaling production, DhaSh is focused on exploring new markets to broaden our impact on the global renewable energy sector. By integrating advanced technologies into our manufacturing processes and expanding R&D activities, we are determined to stay at the forefront of product innovation. This growth will not only reinforce our position as a global leader in the solar PV industry but also create significant opportunities for employment and development, contributing meaningfully to the local and global economy.
