India receives nearly 5,000 trillion kWh of solar energy across its geographical area, with most regions getting about 4-7 kWh daily. However, awareness remains a barrier; a 2018 CEEW report indicated that only 27 percent of farmers in Uttar Pradesh were aware of solar pumps, and just 10 percent considered them a viable option. With the successful implementation of our products and supportive government initiatives, awareness has surged, positioning Ecozen as a key player with a 20 percent market share in the solar pumping sector.
Our story began in Indian agriculture, a sector ripe for innovation yet historically resistant to technological adoption. Recognising this gap, we introduced Ecotron, our flagship solar pump controller. Ecotron was more than just a product; it became a lifeline for countless farmers, turning barren fields into thriving landscapes. By enabling farmers to irrigate during daylight hours and remotely control their pumps via a mobile app, we empowered them with greater safety, convenience, and productivity.
The impact of Ecotron was profound, but we quickly identified another critical challenge: post-harvest losses. Approximately 30 percent of increased agricultural output was being lost due to inadequate storage solutions. In response, we developed Ecofrost, a solar-powered cold storage solution designed to reduce food waste by up to 50 percent. Equipped with advanced thermal energy storage and smart AI/IoT technologies, Ecofrost enhances food security and increases farmers' earnings by an estimated 30 percent. This innovation is more than a product; it's a movement toward a more sustainable and efficient food ecosystem.
Ecozen consistently enhances its offerings to customers. Our technology focus ensures that R&D is a core element of our process. This commitment has led us to introduce several technology firsts in the solar pumping segment, including innovations in connectivity and advanced motor controls. The most recent of these advancements is the 4G network connectivity of our Ecotrons, allowing farmers to operate their pumps effortlessly via our mobile application. This ease of use significantly boosts technology adoption, making it easier for farmers to embrace climate-smart solutions.
Our dedication to innovation extends beyond agriculture. In the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) sector, we developed an advanced module for monitoring EV battery health, providing critical data to enhance sustainability in EV operations. Our solutions cater to various applications, including fleet management, insurance, and finance, solidifying our position as a technology powerhouse in the evolving mobility landscape.
While Ecotrons have helped increase farm productivity, we recognised that nearly 40 percent of agricultural produce in India is wasted before reaching the market, primarily due to inadequate access to cold chain facilities (only 4 percent of the produce requiring cold chain storage has access to it) and poor post-harvest management operations. Ecofrost addresses these issues as a decentralised solar-powered cold room solution, equipped with AI-powered post-harvest management (PHM) parameters developed by our in-house agronomy experts. This technology not only preserves produce but also optimises supply chains, enhancing overall market efficiency.
Our commitment to uplifting rural communities remains strong. The Ecozen solar atta chakki is a testament to this dedication. This innovative solution combines advanced motors and AI/IoT technology to provide rural entrepreneurs with an off-grid milling solution that reduces energy costs, stabilises operations, and boosts productivity.
